I've been really fortunate this week as I've had three orders for my rugs! Firstly, someone asked for a custom rug on Depop made from green and black yarn in a cow print pattern. I did her a sketch which she was super happy with. I was really happy with how it turned out. Previous times I've made mirror rugs I've accidentally scratched the mirror, so I left some film on this one while making it. I photographed it and listed it on Etsy and Depop. I sent it off and the customer was super happy when it arrived. My second purchase was from Depop, and they were a pair of cow print coasters. These are super quick to make, so I made and sent them in a couple days. My last order this week was a zebra print mirror from Etsy. I've started making this, but I've had to wait for mirrors and yarn that I've ordered to arrive, so I'll hopefully finish this in the next few days.
I got the idea from Chloe to make a rug cushion. I had a pre-made rug, and bought some stuffing for it. I was happy with the outcome, but I used hot glue to attach the felt to the cushion (not sure why). But this is a learning curve, so next time I'll definitely sew them together! I took some photos, and listed this to Etsy. I don't think this cushion will get many sales though, as the price it costs for the materials, and the time taken to make it, it's been listed for £40, even though its a very small cushion. I gave this particular one to Chloe to thank her for taking me on for six months at Bottle Blonde.
The last couple weeks I've been doing samples for Saveliin. These are super time consuming, but I'm really enjoying doing them and it's good to get the practice. I started off doing the blue sequins, the I did some beading with the silver beads. I showed these to Saveliin, and she suggested sewing them closer together, which I corrected when sewing the blue beads. I then used the chain stitch using blue and yellow thread. The most recent one I've done is the yellow beads with blue thread and beads, to symbolize flowers. I need to do that sample again but using pink beads next time, and then go from there.
